How a sequence works, from the window opening to PumpSwap.
Overview
A sequence is a short public pool for a brand-new Pump.fun coin. Anyone can deposit while its window is open, and when the window closes the coin is created and the whole pool buys it in the same transaction, so nobody can buy before the sequence does. Each wallet then receives the tokens its deposit bought.
Lifecycle
- 1The creator publishes name, ticker, image, a window (3:00 unless they choose another) and a per-wallet cap (0.5% of supply unless they choose another), with an optional first deposit. The window starts the moment it is published.
- 2Wallets deposit SOL into the sequence's escrow, each up to the cap, until the window closes.
- 3At the close the sequence launches, whatever it holds — even with nothing in it, the coin is still created. Anyone can trigger the launch; our keeper does within seconds:
Caps & math
A sequence fills the same curve the coin launches on. Each deposit takes the next stretch of it, so earlier SOL buys more tokens than later SOL — exactly what the same buy on Pump.fun would get at that point. The curve uses Pump.fun's virtual reserves:
virtual SOL = 30
virtual tokens = 1.073B
curve tokens = 793.1M
launch price = 2.796e-8 SOL
fees = 2.50% (Pump.fun 1.25% + Sequence 1.25%)
tokens(deposit) = sold(pool + deposit) − sold(pool)
sold(pool) = vT − (vS'·vT) / (vS' + pool), vS' = vS × (1 + fees)
wallet cap = 0.5% of supply = 5.0M tokens
≈ 0.1440 SOL as the first depositThe cap is in tokens, so it is checked against the stretch of curve each deposit takes: the later you deposit, the more SOL it takes to reach it. The launch never buys more than the deposits add up to, so no wallet can end up above its sequence's cap. A sequence can hold up to the whole curve; once it does, it takes no more deposits and launches when its window closes.
Migration
After launch the coin trades on Pump.fun's bonding curve. When every curve token has been sold (about 85 SOL of real liquidity, roughly 411 SOL market cap) the curve completes and Pump.fun migrates the coin to a PumpSwap pool. A sequence that fills the whole curve migrates the moment it launches. Sequence tracks every coin through this: Filling → On curve → Migrated.
Final deposits
Deposits are final: there are no withdrawals and no refunds. Every sequence launches when its window closes. The only SOL that ever comes back is change — the sliver of the pool its buy didn't spend, returned with the tokens, or a deposit too small to buy a single unit of the coin.
Fees
- • Pump.fun's 1.25% fee on the pool's buy, as on any buy.
- • Sequence's fee, the same as Pump.fun's: whatever Pump.fun charges the launch's buy, the launch pays Sequence that amount again (1.25% today). The curve is priced with both, so every deposit's quote already includes them. A sequence that buys nothing pays nothing.
- • 0.02 SOL from the creator for the coin's creation, paid to whoever launches it — plus about 0.0075 SOL rent for the sequence's own accounts.
